I started offering intraoral bodywork for relief of jaw issues in 2013 after taking a four-day class. One of my massage clients had jaw tension and volunteered to let me practice on her.
After that first session, she told me I was on to something — she’d had jaw issues for a couple of decades and finally felt some relief from just one session.
Over the years since, I’ve studied with several teachers, researched information (still too scarce) about jaw issues, and given about 1,000 sessions. (In some quarters, I’m known as “the jaw whisperer”.)
I use multiple bodywork modalities including craniosacral therapy, massage, and Zero Balancing in these sessions. The intraoral part of the session (in which I check in with you frequently about comfort and results) is usually only about 10 minutes.
The first part of each session is devoted to going over your TMJ intake form with you, supporting your deep relaxation on my table, finding and gently releasing strain patterns elsewhere in your body that contribute to your jaw issues, and massaging your shoulder, neck, and external jaw muscles.
After the intraoral part of the session, my focus is on integrating the changes throughout your system.
I am unable to tell in advance whether you will need more than one session. By the end of the first session, I can tell if you will benefit from another session.
If you’re not sure this modality is for you, please schedule a free 15-minute discovery call so you can tell me about your issues and we can decide if my skills are a good match for your issues.
If you schedule a session and haven’t seen me before, please look at the maps and directions on my Schedule page so you can find my office and be on time.
Please wear a loose or open collar and remove necklaces and dangly earrings.
Because many TMJ issues come from clenching, grinding, and other habits, in late winter/early spring 2025, I plan to start offering a program that combines bodywork and coaching to return ease to your TMJs over the long term.
